Málaga for couples: a slow weekend escape
Sunsets, rooftop terraces and unhurried culture: ideas for a romantic Málaga getaway and where to stay as a couple, by local hosts.

Málaga is a city made for wandering without watching the clock, which makes it a perfect romantic escape. Neither too big nor too small, with sea, culture and great food, it’s ideal for the kind of weekend you’ll want to repeat. Here’s our take on enjoying it as a couple, slowly.
Sunsets and strolls
Head up to Gibralfaro Castle at sunset to see the city and the port from above, then come down for a stroll along Muelle Uno with the sea beside you. A quieter alternative: a sunset drink at Baños del Carmen, among eucalyptus trees with the sound of the waves.
For dinner and a toast
Málaga lives on its terraces. Book a table on a rooftop with views of the Cathedral, try the sweet wine in a century-old bodega and let the tapas of the centre lead the way. If you prefer calm, the taverns of El Molinillo or La Trinidad have all the neighbourhood charm without the crowds.
Culture, unhurried
Don’t try to see every museum: pick one and enjoy it. The seafront Pompidou, the Thyssen or the Picasso are safe bets. And keep one morning just to get lost in the old town, which is an open-air museum in itself.
Where to stay as a couple
For a couples’ escape, look for a central but quiet apartment, ideally with a patio or terrace for your morning coffee. Our homes adapt: if there are two of you, we close what you don’t need and make up the bedroom your way. And always, book direct at the best price.
